CALL FOR FILMS: 15. 10. – 15. 12. 2013
The call for films for the ETHNOCINECA 2014 is open until 15th December 2013. You can download the rules and regulations as well as the film submission form underneath.
FILMFEST: Mon, 12 – Fri, 16 May 2014
Under the guiding theme „We need to see the world from as many perspectives as possible“, ETHNOCINECA understands documentary cinema as a platform for transcultural encounters and intercultural exchange. The movie theater is thus used as a meeting place and provides a forum for active discussions and reflections between the audience, filmmakers, scientists and other experts in the field. The main goal of ETHNOCINECA is to build a bridge between anthropological discourse/insights and a broader public through film.
An important aspect to achieve this goal is also the ETHNOCINECA PROJEKTWERKSTATT, a workshop that enables its participants to experience anthropological approaches to documentary filmmaking under the guidance of experts from the fields of filmmaking as well as the social sciences. The resulting films are then screened on the last day of the filmfest. Furthermore, photo exhibitions, a keynote speech, panel discussions and the traditional ETHNOFEST complete ETHNOCINECA’s program.
The filmfest is organized through the association ETHNOCINECA, which consists of a group of volunteers, who all have a background in social- and cultural anthropology and/or filmmaking. Their dedication of free time and unpaid work makes the filmfest possible, despite the enormous effort it takes to organize ETHNOCINECA.
